Smoking is not an easy thing to try to quit, not that I have ever tried. I've never been a smoker, but, as I've seen many friends and family members struggle with their nicotine addiction, I know it isn't easy to quit smoking.
Now, more than ever, is a great time to quit especially because there are so many products out there to help you deal with your addiction. The hard part is finding the one that works for you. Trial and error is probably the best way to figure out which product will suppress your addiction.
In order to help you figure out where to start, I decided to look at which products are popular among our users. Prescription medications Chantix and Zyban topped the list, followed closely by the Nicotine Patch. One of the most innovative products on the list is ZeroSmoke, a product that uses magnets to create a pressure point on the ear stimulating the production of neurotransmitters in the brain which eliminate the desire to smoke. Other popular products include Nicorette Gum, Nicotine Gum and the Nicotine Inhaler.
Do you know of any products to help quit smoking that didn't show up on our list? If so, please tell us about them. Try searching for products to quit smoking on AOL Search or check out AOL Shopping.

Of course not listed are Electronic Cigarettes. They should be number 1. Look them up online and ignore anyone who posts a link, ignore spam and do your research.

If there are all these help you stop items, along with an injection that I have read about. Why are these things so damn expensive. Why not make the tobbacco companies pay for the cure. If smoking is so bad for you why isn't the cure offered for free to save lives. No some one needs to profit from making you quit just as the profited to get you hooked. What a Greedy society we are.

It seems that in addition to the behavioral/social rewards of smoking and a number of addictions, there is usually an extremely strong physiological component to the need connected to disregulations (which correlate to chemical imbalances) in the brain. Rather than using outside compounds, one can train the brain and central nervous system into regulation with EEG biofeedback (neurofeedback). The great thing is that other problems that also are resulting from the disregulation are lessened (sometimes eliminated) with the training as well. Just like going to the gym, it takes some sessions but there are no drugs. G. Stratton, Psy.D., Pleasanton, CA

I tried "The Patch", I tried "Chantix" the patch helps if you are ready. Chantix gets you right to 1/2 pack a day or less but hold on tight for the dreams(some of which were quite enjoyable) I stopped Nov 17, 2008. I quit every day since then. It is simple, no gimicks, no drugs, no replacements. Repeat after me I DON"T *&@#$#@@ SMOKE ANYMORE! Get mad! Get it done! I am weakest willed person I know. I did it! It's not easy, It hurts, so does death. ps I'm also saving $400 to $500 a month.

I tried unsuccessfully for 20 years to quit smoking. I had tried everything on the market: patches, gum, hypnosis, therapy, vanilla beans, rubber bands on the wrist and a million other things that didn't work. When my husband said he couldn't stand it anymore I started Chantix. Not because I planned to quit but because it kept him quiet. The directions said I would begin to lose my desire for cigarettes within 7-10 days. Eight weeks later I was still smoking, and loving every minute of it. Then one day in the ninth week, I was in my office at 2 pm and realized that I hadn't smoked ALL day. I ran outside and lit one up. It tasted terrible. I tried again and again til I finished the pack. They all tasted terrible. That was three years ago. After that day quitting was absolutely EFFORTLESS!! Today I'm one of those horrible exsmokers. I can't stand the smell or to be around it. It's so great to be free of that awful habit. My breath, clothes and house no longer smell. To say nothing of the money I'm saving. The best part is I can breathe, I can walk up my hill. I don't know anyone that smokes anymore. Smoking is so uncool, so 80's, so disgusting and so stinky. It is the only product that when used correctly will kill you. And I've seen first hand that lung cancer is a long, painful and horrible death. PLEASE, PLEASE give it a shot. I promise it will work if you stick to it.
Good luck,
Valerie

I tried Chantix, had horrible nightmares, tried the nicotine patches, after two hours I was sick and vomiting.................Finally just quit. I was going to try the electronic cigarette next...it's the habit itself that is hard to break.

I have been putting off my next cigarette for the last 20 years. The only way is just do it.It is after all, all in your head! Quit aids, like diet aids, only work when you are using them. There is no dicipline needed so when you quit the aids, you have gained no dicipline and have accomplished nothing! JUST QUIT! If I can, you can. (I smoked 4pks/day)
