The Sweetest Day was started in Cleveland in 1922 by a man looking to bring happiness through sweets. Herbert Birch Kingston and friends handed out candy to the underprivileged in hopes of raising their spirits. Their benevolence inspired a national day of affection for all.

This Saturday, spread the cheer that Kingston started by sharing with those less fortunate. Show your love for friends, family and strangers with small 'sweet' gifts, whether they be chocolate or a warm-hearted note.

Happy Sweetest Day! Search for more chocolate and candy on AOL Search.
