Although I staunchly deny it, I am told that I'm a very loud snorer. I believe 'chainsaw' was the word they used to describe it. The noise doesn't bother me, but out of courtesy I decided to research snoring and look up some possible cures.Top Searched Snoring Cures on AOL Search:

2. Snoring surgery
3. Snoring chin strap
4. Snoreclipse
5. Snore stopper
6. Anti-snoring pillow

Snoring is a common and natural problem, but it sure is a nuisance. The irritatingly hoarse noise comes from the tissues in your throat vibrating as air flows past. The problem seems like it should be simple to control, but nose, mouth, jaw and throat deformities can make the noise worse by narrowing your airway and increasing the vibration. Snoring can also be an indicator of more serious health problems, such as sleep disorders and sleep apnea.
Simple lifestyle changes can help ease the harsh sounds of snoring. Start by trying to sleep on your side. By sleeping in this position, your tongue will stay clear of your airway and allow air to flow freely. If you can't get used to sleeping on your side, try sewing a tennis ball in to the back of your pajamas. It will be too uncomfortable to lie on your back, so you are forced to roll to your side.
Allergies are a common culprit. When your sinuses get clogged, you are forced to breath through your mouth, which increases the likeliness of snoring. Seek allergy relief by asking your doctor for medicine and clearing your bedroom of all allergens, such as pets, dust mites and mold.
Being overweight is also a cause of snoring. Extra weight will narrow your airway and the extra tissue in your throat is more likely to vibrate as you breathe. Try and lose weight through diet and exercise to help ease your snoring symptoms.
When these lifestyle changes don't help quiet the snoring, it is time to turn to one of the many products, drugs, surgeries or medications on the market. I was surprised to see that there are so many different snoring solutions. Take a look at our top searched list to see which remedies are most popular among AOL Search users.
A jaw or mouth abnormality may be to blame for your continued snoring. Visit your dentist and see if they can fit you with a snoring mouthpiece, number 1 on our list. The dental appliance could free up the obstruction that is causing your snoring. Likewise, nasal strips, number 8, can help dilate the nasal passage and ease snoring in patients with nasal abnormalities.
Surgery, number 2 on the list, isn't necessary for most snorers, but it can help. A procedure called uvulopalatopharyngoplasty tightens and trims excess tissue from your throat to stop snoring, much like a face lift. Other types of surgeries use lasers, like an uvulopalatoplasty, or radiofrequency, like a somnoplasty, to remove excess tissue and shrink the soft palate.
Other products on our list include sleeping aids, medications and sprays. These snoring cures help clear up congestion so that it is easier to breath through your nose during sleep. This corrects the mouth breathing that is often to blame for snoring.

What's up with all the product ads in these comments. These people should be prosecuted for wasting my time. I'm only partly kidding here. It's incredibly annoying. If I want to read fake product testimonials I'll look for 'em.

I find drinking a cup of Chamomile or Deep Breath herbal tea an hour before I go to bed, I can get 4 to 6 hours of sleep, depending if I have protein also in my supper meal. I was diagnosed as having sleep apnea, but I feel somehow its all due to a combination of factors as why people cant sleep or have insomnia. The snoring can be eliminate also and almost by sucking on a "cough suppressant" cough drop, believe it or not, while sleeping because the tongue will hold it in place until it melts. And if you sleep on your left side you will find, if there is food left in your stomach, it wont erupt up your throat if you have acid reflux; making sure to eat at least 4 to 5 hours before bedtime. Those who have low blood sugar, which I also dealt with, can also be almost eleviated by drinking the tea with sugar and sucking on a cough suppressant with sugar in it. These things I found helped me immensely! Hope they help someone else. (Those Breath nose strips dont help with snoring but can keep the sinuses open so the sinuses can dry out, but taking benadryl or allegra will help. But you can get hooked on benadryl and require it for sleep.

Breathe-Right Strips help me a lot! My biggest problem at night is because the sides of my nose keep collapsing against the nose center bone, causing mild suffocation which make my mouth open to take up the slack, kicking-in my tongue and other tissues which otherwise wouldn't/shouldn't be affected. Careful fitting when applying makes my nights better than a CPAP machine once tried to do!

The Pure Sleep mouthpiece is a God send. It's only $60 and my husband and I finally sleep in the same room after 5 yrs of sleeping apart because of his snoring. I think I've woken him up 3 times in the past year...as opposed to a couple of times a night, or simply going into another room...

Wife has on-and-off sleep apnea and snoring, breathes thru her mouth - because she sleeps on her back. Got her the pillow, with bumps on it, makes you sleep on your side. It's miraculous, she breathes normally with it! - BUT, makes her neck sore, so whe won't use it!!! (Know any good neck exercises?)
