Although I staunchly deny it, I am told that I'm a very loud snorer. I believe 'chainsaw' was the word they used to describe it. The noise doesn't bother me, but out of courtesy I decided to research snoring and look up some possible cures.Top Searched Snoring Cures on AOL Search:
1. Snoring mouthpiece
2. Snoring surgery
3. Snoring chin strap
4. Snoreclipse
5. Snore stopper
6. Anti-snoring pillow
7. Stop snoring ring
8. Snoring nasal strips
9. Snoring throat spray
10. Snoring medications
Snoring is a common and natural problem, but it sure is a nuisance. The irritatingly hoarse noise comes from the tissues in your throat vibrating as air flows past. The problem seems like it should be simple to control, but nose, mouth, jaw and throat deformities can make the noise worse by narrowing your airway and increasing the vibration. Snoring can also be an indicator of more serious health problems, such as sleep disorders and sleep apnea.
Simple lifestyle changes can help ease the harsh sounds of snoring. Start by trying to sleep on your side. By sleeping in this position, your tongue will stay clear of your airway and allow air to flow freely. If you can't get used to sleeping on your side, try sewing a tennis ball in to the back of your pajamas. It will be too uncomfortable to lie on your back, so you are forced to roll to your side.
Allergies are a common culprit. When your sinuses get clogged, you are forced to breath through your mouth, which increases the likeliness of snoring. Seek allergy relief by asking your doctor for medicine and clearing your bedroom of all allergens, such as pets, dust mites and mold.
Being overweight is also a cause of snoring. Extra weight will narrow your airway and the extra tissue in your throat is more likely to vibrate as you breathe. Try and lose weight through diet and exercise to help ease your snoring symptoms.
When these lifestyle changes don't help quiet the snoring, it is time to turn to one of the many products, drugs, surgeries or medications on the market. I was surprised to see that there are so many different snoring solutions. Take a look at our top searched list to see which remedies are most popular among AOL Search users.
A jaw or mouth abnormality may be to blame for your continued snoring. Visit your dentist and see if they can fit you with a snoring mouthpiece, number 1 on our list. The dental appliance could free up the obstruction that is causing your snoring. Likewise, nasal strips, number 8, can help dilate the nasal passage and ease snoring in patients with nasal abnormalities.
Surgery, number 2 on the list, isn't necessary for most snorers, but it can help. A procedure called uvulopalatopharyngoplasty tightens and trims excess tissue from your throat to stop snoring, much like a face lift. Other types of surgeries use lasers, like an uvulopalatoplasty, or radiofrequency, like a somnoplasty, to remove excess tissue and shrink the soft palate.
Other products on our list include sleeping aids, medications and sprays. These snoring cures help clear up congestion so that it is easier to breath through your nose during sleep. This corrects the mouth breathing that is often to blame for snoring.

I have struggled with insomnia off and on for most of my adult life. This has been, in part, due to depression, and, more recently, menopausal symptoms like hot flashes. I have always been hesitant to use a sleep drug for fear of side effects and becoming addicted. I have tried a few natural remedies, but nothing seemed to make a difference.
When I heard about Somnieum, I was first of all impressed with the fact that it has a simple line up of safe ingredients which don't interfere with any of the medications I take. When I take 2 capsules before bedtime, I find that I am much more relaxed and can fall asleep more quickly and easily. if I wake up in the middle of the night, I am able to fall right back to sleep. And, I like the fact that I don't feel groggy in the morning. After taking the capsules for a few nights, I decided to try one night without it. When I didn't take Somnieum, I didn't sleep well at all! I could definitely tell a difference! The results are subtle, but effective. It's a relief to be able to take something that's safe and helps me get a good night's sleep! http://tr.im/Somniem

I started doing the Sleep in Silence exercises that day and they have worked better each night, already! Last night I didn't wake, and I wasn't woken once. I agree that you have to concentrate and feel the exercises to benefit most. I plan on making them a life -long activity. I'm extremely glad I this website. I felt sure there had to be something better than all those contraptions or surgery.

I found what helped me most in not snoring was losing weight and not having alcohol within 2 hours of going to sleep. I also find when I don't sleep on my back I don't snore (or so my husband tells me when he pokes me to tutn over)
I think the weight loss that was the most key in not snoring and getting better sleep in general. I am not a fan of going on and off diets. I feel you need to try to change your day to day habits for best results.

I have tried all of the over the counter "cures", sleep on my side or stomach, use an elevated pillow, have taken allergy shots and medicine, banned my animals from the bedroom, "debugged" my bed clothes with expensive products, even have a CPAP machine. I still snore on. Any remedies short of surgery I haven't tried?

I almost hate to break the stream of unpaid-for-ads in these 'comments' sections, but here goes. It doesn't seem unreasonable to me that site monitors find and delete these ads. It's just not worth it anymore to read the comments after a news story because they're 90% ads by parasites who are looking for free ad space.

My friends wife tells me that after all the 'quick-fix' anti-snoring aids thet they've tried, nothing is as effective as lifting his scrotum away from his bum. She thinks it blocks the flow of things, and it works a treat from what i've been told.
lol

I think most people who snore are overweight. Once I lost weight I entirely quit snoring. (Granted, booze seems to contribute to some people's snoring, too.) I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.

Cheapest and easiest way to stop snoring and many other respiratory problems is to use a neti pot to flush all the dust and pollen out of the sinus cavity and permit free and easy breathing thru the nose.
