Some friends and I decided to break in my new blender with a few margaritas. As we sat sipping in the sun, I pondered what the heck I was going to do with the rest of that bottle of Jose Cuervo. Since margaritas are so delicious, I decided to see what other drinks you can make with tequila.Top Searched Tequila Cocktails on AOL:
1. Margarita
2. Long Island Iced Tea
3. Tequila Sunrise
4. Paloma cocktail
5. Shady Lady cocktail
6. Panama Red cocktail
7. Rooster Tail cocktail
8. Tequila Mockingbird cocktail
9. Blue Tap cocktail
10. Santa Maria cocktail
It's no surprise that margaritas ranked as the number one tequila drink. On a warm summer day, blended margaritas are the adult equivalent of sliding down the slip and slide. They're fun and they cool you off! Margaritas are also surprisingly easy to make. You can buy margarita mix at the supermarket and blend them at home. I love mixing in fresh fruit or fruit juice, like strawberry, mango, raspberry or watermelon, for refreshing twists on the classic recipe. Drink them on the rocks or check out our Top Searched Blenders and whip up a frozen margarita at home.
From my college bartending days, I remember Long Island Iced Teas and Tequila Sunrises being very popular drinks. Along with tequila, a Long Island also has gin, vodka and rum. Talk about a strong drink! Tequila Sunrises have a lot less alcohol -- just tequila, orange juice and grenadine, which gives the appearance of a beautiful sunrise (pictured).
Blue Tap, number 9, has been gaining popularity since Jamie Foxx gave it a shout out in his song 'Blame It on the Alcohol.' Most recipes call for white tequila (as opposed to gold tequila), blue curacao and pineapple juice. Try Jose Cuervo's newest tequila, Cuervo Silver.
I hadn't heard of most of the other drinks on this list, but I was able to find their recipes in the alcoholic beverages section of AOL Food.
