Promises of extreme weight loss draw dieters to fad diets like a magnet. Once we get sick of the extreme foods or restrictive regimens, we abandon these fads as quickly as we adopted them. Still, we often leave a few pounds lighter.
The newest diet craze is the HCG Diet. You may have heard of the MLB-banned substance HCG, which was linked to Manny Ramirez and many steroid users. HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is also used for fertility treatments and weight loss. On the HCG diet, the dieter sticks to a very low calorie diet and takes oral or injected treatments of the HCG hormone. Though extreme, this diet can shed 1-3 pounds per day!
I really had no idea what the lemonade diet and DASH diet were all about so I decided to do some research. The lemonade diet (aka Master Cleanse diet) consists of drinking lemonade with hot pepper and no food. I'm sure you can lose some weight with this diet plan since you never eat anything.
The DASH diet favors fruits, vegetables, whole grains and plant-based protein over meat. It can actually help lower your blood pressure. Now that sounds like a more reasonable weight loss plan.
Some of the diets on the list, like the cookie diet, actually sound really good. Who wouldn't want to eat delicious foods and lose weight?

If you're lucky you don't know what it's like to be the "fat friend", well that was me, and it wasn't fun. I tried everything you ever heard of in an attempt to lose weight. I had been overweight for the past five years. I had tried almost everything in the market, right from taking diet pills to enrolling in a gym but nothing really worked. I was lucky enough to never have been overweight in my life. That all ended after the birth of my second child. I got down to 20 pounds over my normal weight but no matter what I did I couldn't lose the rest. I didn't know if was age catching up with me or if somehow my metabolism changed. Please! If injections worked, there would be a lot of skinny women running around toting needle marks on every part of their body. What works is eating less, making smart food choices and moving...burning more calories. I lost over 40 pounds in the last 7 months by using common sense. And constantly telling myself the old adage that being slim (or just not fat!) is better than any bit of cheeseecake..which alwyays led to the whole cake plus more.
In addition, I stopped eating lots of processed foods and discovered the huge advantage of adding fiber to your diet. You feel fuller and more satisfied longer. I used to start
my day with a muffin that has way too many calories and is not filling. All empty calories and loaded

I like the Flat Belly Diet. It makes sense and I like the food that you get to eat. They want you to not go more than 4 hours with eating and have a MUFA at every meal. (mono unsaturated fatty acid). I eat a lot of flax, salmon, almonds and never let myself get deprived.

ICE CREAM DIET, Yes it works!!!!!
1 box 1/2 gallon Vanilla Ice Cream ... not ice milk not low fat .... REAL vanilla Ice Cream!!!!!!!!
Split it in 2, you get 1/2 the box one day and the other half the next ... THATS ALL YOU EAT, THE BOX OF REAL VANILLA ICE CREAM ... You lose 5 pounds, or I do, and it leaves you HUNGRY, but it works!

As an RN it is frightening to me for people to risk their lives by taking HCG hormone to lose weight. Better one should stay a few pounds overweight than die. HCG is a powerful hormone and their is NO research to show what happens with long term use. Remember, when cortisone was first used, it was touted as the "Wonder Drug". Now we know it causes great damage and can lead to cancer. It is only used in very dire cases. So my advice: Wait for the scientific studies, read them yourself, then decide. It's the only body you have, treat it well!

I have to laugh at all of the crazy diets people embark on. All of these require adherence to a scheduled plan, and some sacrifice. Many are dangerous to your health. Isn't it easier, and just better in the long run to change your bad habits, eat anything you want with smaller portions, snack on fruits/veggies/nuts, and start moving more? That's as simple and healthy as you can get.

Some of these diets sounds crazy.Use the core plan.You can eat anything baked,all veggies,fruits and even cheat once a week.I lost 54 lbs.

I lost twenty pounds in three months and didn't use any diet fads to do it. I eat fruit, nuts, lean meats, vegetables and sugar free pudding with sugar free cool whip to satisfy my sweet tooth. I don't eat sugar or anything with white flour in it. I never go hungry. This works for me.
