Life is full of little scares. Some days you panic that you will be late to work and other days you might be terrified to have your in-laws over. Most people are able to cope with these fears, but what if the thought of confronting your phobia sent you into a panic?FDR's famous fear quote says, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself." Try telling that to the people who suffer from phobias. Phobias are really forms of anxiety disorders, but people who experience these phobias often exhibit symptoms of other disorders that make their phobias harder to cope with than just your average fear.
The top searched phobia on our list is a fear of leaving home or a safe place. Agoraphobes are terrified to go out in public and sometimes experience symptoms of panic disorders when they venture outside of their comfort area. More people than you would expect experience types of social anxiety. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 15 million Americans over the age of 18 have a social phobia.
There are mental health programs to help you cope with your phobia. For example, people who suffer from Emetophobia, a fear of vomiting, often need anorexia treatment as well because they are also afraid to eat.
Can you guess which one of these phobias would make someone afraid of Halloween postcards? Or which phobia Frontier Airlines would hate? Click on our list of the top searched phobias and find out!

I don't know what the "technical" word is for my phobia, but it's the exact opposite of Clausterphobis(sp?). I am scared of being in the middle of a big open-space room like a rollerskating rink or a basketball court. You might as well put me in a straight jacket and take me to the nearest mental hospital-if I get in one of those places and have to stay there. Have big-time panic attacks!

I have a nearly paralyzing fear of almost all insects, especially flying ones. I know it's completely irrational, but every time I see even a tiny bug I'll duck away and try to get as far as possible from it.

I am afraid of stupid people who waste time sending their dumb web sites of which I will never visit, jamming the comment board with useless information that no one will read, and wasting our time as we scan to the end to find that there is nothing.

After trial and error through the years, the final solution to control my panic attacks was St. John's Wort, All other chemically based medications made matters worse.
