It has happened to almost everyone. You wake up in the morning and are horrified to see that a zit has sprouted on your face overnight. Worst of all is that you know no matter what you do, it isn't going to disappear in an instant and make up can only help so much. What you can do to expedite the process is use an acne treatment.Everybody's skin is different, so what works for your best friend might not work for you. To add to the confusion, there are a ton of different creams, pills and medications that all claim to be fast acting acne treatments. You might have to try a few different treatments before you find one that shows results on your skin. Beware though, don't stress your skin out more by trying a bunch of new acne treatments at once. That might just make things worse.
In a perfect world, acne solutions would help clear up the acne you already have while preventing future break outs, but that isn't always possible. Your acne is caused by tons of different factors, including stress, hormones, bacteria and genetics. One treatment can't tackle all of the causes, so each works in different ways.
Topping our list of the topped searched acne treatments on AOL Search is Proactiv. You have probably seen the infomercials with celebrities talking about how well it works. Their system has several different steps to help cure acne using a topical treatment.
If you are really serious about being acne free and you're not just looking for a quick fix, visit a dermatologist for a prescription acne medication. The most searched of these is Differin, a topical gel that helps prevent blocked pores. Other acne remedies include acne pills, such as Minocin, the seventh most searched treatment.

Differin really worked for me. I was getting huge zits on my chin and around my mouth, so my dermatologist prescribed 3% Differin gel. I love it, now I actually only wash my face once a day and apply moisterizer over the gel. I don't even need makeup to cover up the red spots anymore, as they have finally disappeared!

I tried proactive and a variety of skin care regimens. I found what helped me the most was a combination of things. One is never going to bed with my make up on and using retinol. I also started eating flax for weight control and found that it made me skin glow and helped my hair and nails grow. It is a golden roasted flax and chia blend that I had heard about on aol searches. It is delicious and definitely helped me lose weight as well. The website is http://www.fitflax.com

Lots of my friends have had real success with DayBreak Lavender Farm's Zit Zap. Even on tough acne. It's all natural. It really works. And it plays well with Proactive and other dermatologist prescriptions. You can learn more at www.daybreaklavenderfarm.com. Check out the Before's and Afters.

i have literally tried everything, and two years ago my aunt introduced me to a product line called glymed...its a very powerful acne treatment and I saw results within the first week. I also go see an aesthitican and that also helps, you have to make sure you are keeping up with your products twice a day, and use nothing with oil!!!!

I have been struggling with acne ever since I was a teenager and I am currently in my 30's. I tried everything from prescription to proactive and non of them worked. Then 2 years ago I started using the Clear Advantage System from Arbonne. It is AWESOME!
My acne cleared up after 2 mon and now I can use their Anti Aging Line and am still acne free.
There products are pure, safe and beneficial and there are no chemicals dyes or fragrances in them.
You also get a 45 day money back guarantee. If you are looking for a more natural solution and the results that go along with it, go to www.arbonne.com
You can order as a client and the consultant id# that I used was 16103109. Best of luck!!!

I've used 6 out of the 10 medications and it's a joke. Proactive doesn't work at all. I STILL have acne and I've used Accutane as well. It worked while I was taking it but as soon as the doctor said it was no longer necessary my acne came back. The seventh dermatologist recommended I get help for a possible hormone problem but I can't afford hormone therapy - I don't have insurance! I've tried EVERY otc treatment and ended up with nothing but an empty wallet, chemical burns, and acne scars. Proactive is an irritant and makes my skin worse - not to mention the expense. The other medications dried out my skin (Differin, Retin -A, Retin - A Micro, and Tazorac). I just can't afford to waste any more money. All this 'treatment' does is just give me more acne scars or scars from chemical burns. Dermatologists have no idea what they are doing. I'll just have to get used to being ugly I guess.

My daughter started using Proactive two years ago. Her skin is beautiful, but with ANY skin regime the key to success is actually using the product. She is faithful about her skin care. She uses it every morning, night and sometimes as soon as she walks in the door from school.

Obviously, different treatments are going to work for different people and their different skin types. But here's what works for me (I'm 34 years old and have had problematic, oily skin my ENTIRE life). I take 3 Evening Primrose Oil gels once a day (1,300 mg each for a total of 3,900 mg per day- these are also phenomenal for your nails and hair), I drink AT LEAST 64 ounces of water daily, I use a deep cleanser to remove make-up (NEVER sleep in it!), and then follow-up with a tea-tree wipe that I get at The Body Shop. After I shower, I wipe my face down with Garden Tomato toner from Burt's Bees. It seems like a lot, but this regimen really helps me control the oily skin, and the tea tree oil in the wipes helps control the bacteria that causes the acne. Don't forget... don't sleep in your make-up and drink plenty of water!

Don't waste your money on Proactive!! Once you stop using it you break out like crazy! My friend and I both had the same issue and it was not a coincidence.
