Need a boost of energy? A cup of coffee and a can of caffeinated soda are considered "old school" now when it comes to getting your mid-day energy boost. From Red Bulls to the Starbucks Doubleshot, energy drinks are becoming so popular that I'm beginning to wonder, does anyone sleep?
While I've never had an energy drink myself, I have noticed as hundreds of different energy drink brands hit the grocery store shelves, and I've started to wonder, do these really work? They must work if people are still purchasing them, leading to the continuation of the energy drink craze.
Out of the variety of energy drinks out there, Red Bull takes the lead as the most commonly searched for energy drink. Other popular energy drinks include Monster, Rockstar, and Jolt. All of these drinks are developed to increase mental and physical exertion, but many people use them simply to stay awake.
Remember to drink in moderation. In the US, energy drinks have been linked to nausea, abnormal heart rhythms, and emergency room visits. Of course, you can always stick to the traditional cup of coffee, diet coke, or even some chocolate milk as an energy boost.

i work at a convienence store and in last two years
there are now over 50 different energy drinks in stock. If you include different flavors and sizes well over 200 different ones. Red Bull Monster and Rockstar top the list with amp varietys just behind.
And energy drinks make up over 1/4 of total sales
of the pop juice and water sold. Coke and Pepsi have the distribution rights to the majority of the energy drinks. i see everybody from young kids to retired seniors buying them.

As was mentioned in all the above comments, These energy drinks are loaded with caffein and sugar! In fact, this is the reason why some energy drinks have been linked to the causes that you mentioned in your article above. I drink a healthy line of ready to drink functional beverages called HIRO. The line includes: Energy, Mobility (to help your joints), Vitality (to support your immune system) and Thermo (to burn calories). All of these have only 10 CALORIES each. Check out http://www.mcraeassociates.org and click on the HIRO tab for more information.

I wasn't a big fan of energy drinks, I actually hated the medicinal taste of energy drinks, but I came across OSO Energy Drink when I attended a special event at a hip club in nyc called 1oak... It was a party for Kanye West which was sponsored by OSO and Absolut... I kid you not, it tasted so smooth and had NO after taste.... I found it on amazon.com because they don't have it in philly where I'm from. I have to say OSO is by far the best energy drink I've tasted.

The main thing is that people that love to drink these, dont drink them for nutrition. It has absolutely nothing to do with nutrition. Especially if you look at the surveys of the age groups of people who buy these and drink these weekly, daily, or even multiple daily. The majority are school aged people, either teenagers or early 20's (myself included) and we drink them primarily to either get ourselves up in the morning from a combination of school and work just to start it all over again, or just to stay awake long enough to get through it all. On the other hand, if you compare the taste of many of these energy drinks to "natural energy boosters" or the 5 hour energy shots, red bull and monster taste heavenly compared to the others.

You know what I think is funny? Half of these posts, at least on the first page are NOTHING but people posting URLs to sights they are plugging. It is trully pitiful when spammers have to resort to pretending to post real posts just to spam their URLs on site. As to the spammers themselves, here's how I see it. If your product or service was worth anything at all, you wouldn't need to spam it. :P
