I was watching a funny movie this weekend where the father dyes his hair to hide the fact that he is going gray and losing his hair. He looked so ridiculous with his jet black hair that their dog kept barking at him because it didn't recognize him. I was laughing pretty hard when it occurred to me: do people really go this far to hide their thinning hair?It is estimated that over half of all men will experience male pattern baldness by the time they are 50. But it is not only men that experience hair loss, hair loss in women is very common as well, especially in women who are going through menopause. Genes play a big roll in determining baldness, but also some medications cause hair loss.
I started to wonder what measures people take to stop hair loss and regrow hair. Besides wearing a hat to cover up bald spots, I decided to look at what other AOL Search users were searching for to remedy their hair loss.
The top two of our list are two generic brands of medication used as both topical and oral treatments. Finasteride is commonly known as Propecia and Proscar, and Minoxidil is popularly known as Rogaine.
More natural treatments include Saw Palmetto, a natural extract, and Shen Min, a special type of hair vitamin. A lot of people turn to hair transplant surgery, which shows more immediate results because a hair follicle is directly implanted into your skin.
Not all treatments will work for everyone, and there are a lot of scams out there, so beware. Remember that hair in a spray can? What do you use to treat your baldness? Let us know. For more about balding search AOL Search or look for hair loss treatments on AOL Shopping.

I was losing hair and starting to look old at an early age until someone tole me about a product called Provillus. I contains the only FDA approved hair growth treatment and it worked wonders for me. I buy it online at http://www.provillus.com/?aid=854568 which makes it real easy for me. Now I have a full head of hair and look great. One of my wife's friends ask her why my hair was looking so good, because she was losing hers. Then we found out that they made a formula for women too and her hair is filling in nicely in the few months she's been using it. I would recommend it to anyone who is losing their hair. it flat out works.

Since it is much more common for a man to lose hair it is nothing compared to a woman losing hair. I was devasted when I noticed my hair thinning in my mid thirties. I did everything I could to hide it but you can only do so much. Then I became aware of Provillus too. http://www.provillus.com/?aid=854568 What made me confident that it would work was the fact that they had a special woman's formula that consisted of a dietary supplement, which is supposed to help with our hormonal balance, and topical solution that contains minoxidil, the only thing that the FDA has approved to re-grow hair. On top of that they have a 90 money back guarantee. I figured I had everything to gain and nothing to lose. It took about 6 months for me to see that my hair was filling in completely and now I have a full head of hair. Provillus was a miracle worker for me.

I thought Provillus was my little secret because it sure stopped my hair from thinning out but I never heard or saw an ad for it in my life. I stumbled upon it online http://worldsgreatestsupplement.com/ and took a shot and my hair is so thick and full now because of it. This stuff has got the goods, it works.

I lost a ton of hair after I had my twins and was devastated. My hair was kind of thin to begin with, but I lost a ton in the front and felt like a hideous fat bald woman!
I do a few things and they have worked. Granted it was not overnight by a long shot, but My hair is much much better. I take biotin that I get at the vitamin shoppe or ar cvs. The brand does not matter. I just go for a mega dose. I also use women's rogaine. That I buy discounted at Drugstore.com I shop at all my favorite
stores through an online website that gives me the unpublished codesat about 300 stores (including Target, The Gap, Best Buy, Old Navy,
Drugstore.com, etc) as well as giving me between 5 and 50% back in cash on my purchases. The site is http://www.fatcrumbs.com
I also just got the hair max laser comb on Amazon. I can't attest to it being great yet, but my husband's best friend uses it and his hair def looks much better

One random day I felt a bald spot about the size of a quarter in the middle of the back of my head. In 2 weeks I had lost 90% of my hair. I went to a demetoligist and was given several small injections of a steroid into my scalp. this went on for 2 months. My hair started to come in in within a few weeks, fine like baby hair yet still it was hair. I finally after 6 months of the shots I had a full head of curls, my hair had been bone staight. this was 7 years ago and I still get spots that need attention but with the injections it comes back with in a week. There is no rhyme or reason for why but like I always say "it is what it is," There is hope so keep looking.

I feel all your pain, I am 43 in peri-menopause, and the hair thinning on top and shedding episodes gives me more stress than the hormones themselves. I started taking a vitamin for hair and regenetress, a 3 step process for women with Adrogenic Alopecia.. the gyn doctor pushed the hair syptom aside, but we girls know our own body's. She gave me YAZ to get my hormones leveled..just started, so I have no comment on YAZ yet. A dermatologist can do a scalp biopsy if you want a definite diagnosis. But I know its my hormones...all other tests are perfect, except the hormonal levels... good luck to you all and I will definitely find out more about Provillus

I am a woman in my thirties, and my hair has been falling out for months. When I went to my doctor, he laughed at me...like I was being vain. Then I went to see my gynecologist, maybe it was hormonal. And he was stumped. Absolutely terrified of being bald, I went to an endocrinologist, and he tested my Vitamin D. He said that my levels were very low, and he prescribed a Vitamin D supplement. I can only hope that it works.......

To the woman in her thirties: I don't think you are vain at all, you just want to look and feel normal. My sister-in-law went on the Dr. Atkins diet, 30 years ago, and her hair started falling out like crazy. I started researching it for her and found that the diet had put her body in stress mode plus she was using diet sweetners which caused her vitamin B levels to go way down. She started taking a good multi-vitamin and a separate B vitamin, Biotin. To get the Biotin in your system, start with 1500mg and throughout the day take 4 a day for the first week, 3 a day for the second week and then take 2 a day thereafter. By the end of the third week you should see your hair growing back. After about 3 months you could go to 1 per day. Biotin is also good for your skin and nails. There is also shampoo and conditioner made with Biotin in it, Nexus used to make it, but I cannot remember what the specific name is. Good luck and try to stay stress free. Yoga also helps...doing head stands or using a slant board for 15 minutes a day helps blood flow to the scalp.

I am a female that tried lots of remedies they did not work fast enough or well enough. I had heard of Toppix. It is sold in beauty salons and online. It is a small shaker with tiny micro-fiber hairs (the same color as yours) and you lightly shake it on the thin or bald area. It instantly forms a net-like weave that blends into your natural hair. Everyone thinks that I have a thick head of hair and I don't, I have a large bald spot right in the front of my head. The Toppix does not run in the rain or when I swim and it stays until you easily wash it out. It is my perfect solution. No more foreign drugs, just an easy shake.
