The world is a bit less funny after Bernie Mac died on Saturday, a little more than a week after seeking medical treatment for pneumonia. The actor had suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease, but this was not known to be related to the pneumonia that caused his death. In another shocking death this weekend, award-winning soul legend Isaac Hayes was found unresponsive near a treadmill in his home. Other than his singing and songwriting, Hayes was also well known for his voice as the character "Chef" on Comedy Central's show 'South Park.' Coincidentally, Mac and Hayes recently finished filming a movie together, 'Soul Men,' which is expected to be released in November. The 2008 Olympics kicked off in Beijing on Friday with a lavish opening ceremony that spurred a Chinese winning streak. The team is currently in first place with 14 medals, nine of which are gold. The U.S. is in second with only three gold medals, two of which were won by swimming star Michael Phelps. Phelps won one with the U.S. team in the Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay and another one solo in the Men's 400m Medley, where he also set a new world record.
Speaking of setting records, Kyle Busch set a new record at the Watkins Glen International where he became the first driver in NASCAR's history to win three road course races in one season. In other sports news, reigning welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre beat Jon Fitch at UFC 87 in a unanimous decision.
Popular affordable home decor company, IKEA, may sell more than just IKEA furniture. The IKEA Greentech group plans to start investing in clean technology, beginning by selling solar panels. "Some assembly required."
Former democratic party presidential candidate John Edwards admitted that he had an extramarital affair with a filmmaker hired to follow his campaign efforts. Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, who suffers from incurable breast cancer, announced she will support him through this.

Really enjoyed the week-end with the Olympics.
We do not need all the sick gossip of the people
who THINK they are important. Just do not publish
their dastardly deeds and maybe they will go away.

When people hold certain jobs that are considered "Leaders" they should lead by example and be held accountable for their failure to do so. I think these folks should get some totally humiliating punishment if not prison time and should NEVER be allowed to hold ANY job that is a "leadership". Would it not be some just dessert to see Edwards holding up a sign in front of a planned parent hood or outside the Capitol Building Saying " I was to stupid to use birth control and was to selfish to honor my sick and dying wife and have shamelessly embarrased my family". We the people need to insist annd pass laws like that so that we can stop making America the laughing stock of the world - although I do think obama is the biggest joke - we need to really stop this kind of stuff and be much more responsible with our voting.

I agree with the fact that slimey Bill Clinton just walked away with being proven a cold hearted liar! Everyone has forgotten that. Now they admire this man? Hillary is just as big a joke thinking if she stayed with the louse she too could become president. As the leader of the free world or trying to become the leader of the free world you would think they could keep their pants up! GEEZ! As for the war on Georgia it is horrible! Our world is so screwed up it is literally unbelievable! Here in the US it is truly amazing what is important. We have stupid laws: No smoking, seatbelts etc.. plus we are facinated by people like Miley Cyrus, Brangelina when other countries are just trying to survive! Illegals pour into our country. This government needs to get moving to correct the problems!! Really sad!

well if you are going to be outraged by Edward's infidelity, then let us not forget those before him:
Woodrow Wilson had a mistress before becoming president in 1912. Warren G. Harding, the 29th president in the early 1920s, had an extramarital affair with a friend's wife and fathered a child with an unmarried 18-year-old. Franklin D. Roosevelt's mistress attended his inauguration in 1933 and was at his bedside when he died 12 years later. In the early 1960s, President John F. Kennedy had enough mistresses, including Marilyn Monroe, to fill a scorecard – a persona that fuelled his public appeal.
And you can bet that Edwards won't be the last politician to have an affair.
So now what, ??????
