One of my good friends has met all of her boyfriends from online dating services. While some of the online relationships work out and some don't last more than a few weeks, she is obsessed with online dating. It gives her the opportunity to know a little bit more about someone before she goes on a date with them. Another plus is the ability to set preferences on what type of person you are looking for.
She has been using eHarmony to meet new men for about two years now. When I had dinner with her last night she mentioned how she was considering making profiles on some different dating sitesjust incase her Mr. Right is a subscriber to one of the many other online dating websites that exist today.
While I have never used online dating myself, I have seen it lead to wonderful relationships for many of my friends. There are dating websites out there for almost anyone looking for love. There are online dating sites specifically made for interracial and minority dating such as black singles, jewish singles, christian singles, singles over 50, gay and lesbian singles, and any other single men or single women searching for that perfect someone.
While there are many free online dating services, other websites will charge you a monthly fee to be a member. Some of the free dating sites include PlentyOfFish, Chemistry and DateHookUp. Other popular dating sites include Match, eHarmony, LavaLife, and Yahoo! Personals.

I used a lot of dating sites, but met the man I ended up marrying on Plentyoffish. That's a great site and at least at the time I was using it it was free.

I found the online dating a means for men to keep thing impersonal, Also a venue for people wanting to cheat on their mate. I have been deceived by cheating husband and boyfriend repeatedly. If you are looking for something real you will not find it through online dating. Men only want a hook up and no commitment long relationships. Men between 40 to 60 are want a sexual encounter and nothing more. If they are not cheating they are so damaged divorce men that are weak and insecure are looking for hook up only. I feel that online dating is the worse invention and dehumanizing experience.

Singlesnet, I met the biggest fake of all. I got pregnant, and am still single, but I was blessed with a beautiful daughter. I sure he is still on every dating site out there, so be careful all single women in Central PA!!

I agree with the previous post - stay away from Great Expectations!!! They also put up billboards for "Men Seeking Marriage" or "Women Seeking Marriage" or "(your town here)singles.com" - they have high pressure tactics and were so incredibly rude to me because I didn't plunk down more than 5 grand (!!!) right then and there. Stay away from Great Expectations!!!

I have tried several dating sites , several of the ones on the list. Singlesnet, plentyofffish, none of them have worked for me. Basically they safe Free to join but to send a email or reply to a email you have to pay for a membership first. Most of the profiles are inactive by more than 3 months, you don't find this out until after you pay. Maybe this only happens to men not women since we are the ones who always pay.

I would have recommended Plenty of Fish. I met the man of my dreams on there 2 years ago and we have been happily together ever since! You really have to be careful though of some of the free sites, they usually turn out to be a one night stand shop. I thought I would never find "the one" after 16 years of marriage and 2 years of dating...but have faith, there is someone for everyone when the time is right!

I have been on POF for about three years now. I have met two very nice women, one I dated for a several months and the second about a year. Unfortunately neither of these relationships worked out, so I will continue my search. What I like about POF is there are no membership fees to join; you do view a few commercial advertisements, guess they have to pay the bills one way or another.
The problem is anyone with access to a computer can sign up, you do have to be very careful as you weed through the profiles.

Congratulations to those that said they found love in a dating online site, because what I found was a bunch of liars ans married men without leaving behind the "freaks"

Plentyoffish is great.
I met several people by using the site.
One date lasted an hour and was 59 minutes too long.
The following week, I made a date with someone and
We are talking marriage.....

Plentyoffish.com is awesome and free...it's where I met my fiance'! Just a bit of advice, don't always take for granted that a bad picture on a site is what the person actually looks like in person. He is SO much more handsome in person. ;) We're very much in love and planning to wed in a few short months. Thanks plentyoffish.com!! Don't give up hope, people...I waited a LONG time to catch a keeper!! LOL

Okcupid.com is a great site too and it's FREE. They also have a sense of humor....so it's nice to tell it like it is.

I have tried several sites. Singelsnet.com was a complete failure for me. I sent out many emails and only about 10% ever read the email, they are still unread to this day. That tells me there are alot of inactive profiles on this site. I also tried eharmony which was a complete waste of money. I recently tried plenty of fish and have had a much better success. I also tried match.com which didn't work for me either. I am currently dating someone from POF and very happy. Guess you have to find a site that works for you. I love that there are no fees.

www.blackplanet.com is an excellent source to meet other African Americans. The dating service is free and you have a great opportunity to meet others from chatting. It is very easy to access and you have a note page for sending and accepting emails. All free. Besides that if ou dont want to date, there are plenty of people to chat with and you have the ability to know if they are online and read their profile.
