So when I got a headache yesterday, I decided to look and see what other AOL users rely on for pain relief.The widely known drug Vicodin came in at the top of our search list, probably because it can be used as a mild-to-severe pain reliever, depending on the potency. If I don't have a prescription for something like dental surgery, I like liqui-gel aleve. I take 3 instead of two and it works well. my chiropractor gave me BIOFREEZE about three yrs ago for back pain and let me tell you,THAT STUFF IS AMAZING!!!! i used the gel form and it worked way better than even vicodien.

Please be careful taking Advil or any Ibuprophen. A few years ago I took Advil for leg pains and ended up almost destroying my kidneys. Now I take darvocet and that works great.

I have used vicodin with great success. Did not stay on it long for fear of addiction. Has anyone been addicted to it?

A small caveat here...when Aleve first came out, I used it briefly---but found it no better than advil for my needs. Last week a doc suggested I try it again for knee pain from arthritus...and I found myself in an ER at 3Am...I have developed an strong allergic reaction to it...which I am told can happen at any time---feom just about anything, even something you've used for years.
So OTC doesn't mean "safer" than perscription....

I have been using biofreeze for about a year now for neck pain. I have to say I have become addicted to this stuff because it works wonders for my chronic neck pain.

I have Fibromyalgia....I have tried many pain killers..but the only thing that helps is Oxycontin 10mg twice a day....and Vicodin for breakthru pain.....it helps a lot....and no...I don't get a "buzz"...not at all.

I suspect the author of the article might realize later, that drugs are usually "prescribed" not subscribed... what about good old fashioned aspirin or advil? Is that too common now days?

If still looking for a prescription strength gel pain reliever for topical use, ask for a new one called Volteran - used in combination with also the BioFreeze, works great.

Actually you can take 4 Advil for pain which is equal to 1 prescription advil. So that is something to remember.

I think this article is a walking advertisement for pain medication. It provides to much prositive...even tells were you can get them on the internet. If they had listed both positive and negative, it would be ok. And maybe stressed to kids under the age of 18 to ask their parents.

i took vicoden for 6 yr a friend told me about a pain patch you were for 72 hr and its like a new me more energey because i have 80 percent less back pain its called fentanyl

i injured my back in 1996 and tried everything from tylenol extra strenght to ibuprofine. now i go to a pain management doctor and have to take 2 different strenghts of morphine, 1 is fast acting, the other is time release. i also take a muscle relaxer. i still have alot of pain and there is nothing they can do.

I work at a pain management clinic.We love BIOFREEZE and Volteran gel.They work wonderful.But you need to be careful with most pain meds because most prescripton pain pills are narcotics and can be habit forming.Unfortunely some of us need them on a daily basis so always only take when needed and lowest dosage possible to try to avoid this.

I can't use otc meds ,they make me sick to my stomach. I prefer Darvocet for arthitis pain ,only as needed. I don't suffer everyday, but when I do it's bad. I have found Vicodin is much to strong on my stomach ,it has made me very sick. BIOFREEZE is the bomb, I sometimes use it on my forehead if I get a real bad sinus headache,works like a dream.

Be careful when using thoes over the counter pain releavers daily they can build up in your system and cause a reaction with the person going to er room.
if your realy having daily pain ask the doctor for a cortazone or steriod shot it will last for months but you need to ask, doctors dont offer it, drug company related issue.
