My dad recently bought a Bowflex machine after seeing it advertised on television. I guess it was his mid-life crisis way of wanting to be as buff and handsome as the man on the infomercial.
I admit that the 15-minute or so infomercials can be extremely convincing. The Proactiv ads convinced me that I could have skin like Jessica Simpson in just a matter of days and my mom and I still use the ButtMaster advertised by Suzanne Somers on her old infomercials..
After watching my dad call in and purchase his new muscle-man machine, I started to wonder about which "As seen on TV" products generate enough interest through infomercials for viewers to search for them online, so I set out to find what our top searched "As seen on TV" products are on AOL Search.
Not surprisingly, most of these products deal with body image, including exercise equipment, skin care, makeup and diet pills. Other commonly searched products, the Shark Steam Mop and the Topsy Turvy are out of the ordinary household products. The popularity of Rosetta Stone, a language learning software program, is evident by how high it is on the list.
Do you know any good "As seen on TV" products that did not show up on our list? If so, please tell us about them. Looking to purchase a product you saw on TV? Check out AOL Shopping or try searching "As seen on TV" products on AOL search.

COMMENTS
This is my third try to send in a comment.
I have ordered many products from infomercials and they all work as they said they would, have not had a problem at all.
I think you have to be a bit particular as to what you purchase from this type of medium. Maybe I have just been lucky, but I enjoy my products very much.

Thanks for the hint about looking for these things at thrift stores. I also read in a book that another place to get an idea about how good they are is to see how many of them are on E-Bay....... That Pasta Express made spaghetti ok, but anything thicker than that would not cook. The trash got that one!!

Hoodia is an illegal substance in the United States. The FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) has rejected all of the applications for this product to be marketed in the US. They have stated that over 100 brands of hoodia product has been tested at FDA labs and not one contained any detectable levels of the African hoodia gordonii root, which is a controlled export in Africa. Although hoodia has been shown in some small studies to promote modest appetite suppressive effects, no large scale studies have ever been conducted. In the FDA tests, if any hoodia was present, it was the Chinese variety which does not have the same appetite suppressant effect. Buyers must beware when choosing to purchase a product which claims to contain hoodia gordonii. It most likely does not!

I ordered MagicJack. Don't waste your money. The sound quality is poor, the pizza place hung up on me because they couldn't hear me.
Don't buy it!

One product that definitely is a fraud is the remote light switch. I ordered 2 for 19.99 and neither one of them worked. I emailed the company and they sent me two more. Out of the two, only one worked. The closet lights that they send free with the switches are very dim LEDs and light up nothing. Save your money.

I recently bought an herbal pill called Relaxiprin which is for anti-anxiety and relaxation. I usually don't believe in the informercial products, but I gave it a shot because they had a money back guarantee. I figured worst case scenario I would just lose the shipping and handling cost. I've been taking the pills and they work really well. I recommend Relaxiprin to anybody who is stressed out because they make you feel really mellow and calm. http://relaxiprin.com

I'm an "As Seen on TV" junkie and have tried many products; some even listed in the comments. The one I just bought that isn't mentioned here is the NuWave Oven. It cooks in 3 different methods and in half the time of a regular oven. I'm VERY happy with this product and it's a breeze to use. Down side is it's a bit large and takes up the countertop but cleaning it is simple because everything is pretty much non-stick. It's cost about 194.00 with the attachment ring to cook larger things such as a turkey. I love it b/c you can cook from freezer to ready to eat! No more defrosting. Comes with a DVD and two cookbooks. It uses no more electricity than a 1500 watt blow-dryer and it won't radiate the house when cooking so you can use it in the summertime and cook great meals if you're not an outdoor cook!

Thanks for the excellent information!
I've lost 18 pounds so far this month using the stuff at http://www.SizeZeroPill.info. It had a free trial so I figured why not give it a shot.
I've tried so many different products over the years and nothing seemed to work until I started that one. So to be averaging nearly a pound a day is pretty awesome I think.
Also, I haven't changed my diet any yet. I just take 2 pills a day and walk on the treadmill for a few minutes first thing in the morning. So I'm hoping that when I do get around to cutting back on calories and adjusting my diet my results will get even better. :)
Good luck to you all!
