I was driving down the highway the other day when I heard a blast from the past. It was Twisted Sister's 'We're Not Gonna Take It.' Do you remember them?I loved the '80s! Mohawk haircuts, big hair, fingerless lace gloves, leg warmers, Rubik's Cube, Shrinky Dinks, Smurfs ... the list could go on forever.
I wondered if people were as nostalgic about the '80s as I am. I decided to find out what the most popular '80s big-hair bands were on AOL Search. To my surprise, I found out many people are still curious about the '80s big-hair bands.
KISS , who formed in the '70s, were classically known for their crazy face painting but decided in the '80s to add some Aqua-net. Other bands such as Cinderella, Whitesnake and we can't forget Poison competed with them for the highest teased hair dos.
Speaking of Poison, lead singer Bret Michaels now has his own reality show called 'Rock of Love', where 25 women compete to win a date with him. The hit show just ended season two and fans are wondering ... will there be a season three? Other '80s bands such as Aerosmith and Motley Crue have toned down their hair and are still performing concerts for all their fans. Guns N' Roses is seemingly more famous these days for the album they won't release.

Hair bands? Ummm, Flock of Seagulls ring any bells? Why aren't they here? The hair bands were great - but specifically the Brit pop was the best! I can't wait for this summer's Regeneration Tour...Human League, ABC, Flock of Seagulls, etc. There's a chance I may interview League, my fave of all time! Take care.

Axel was my neighbor in the 80's. My ex-husband used to be best friends with the guy who ran Poisons band. We loved the 80's and like Bob, I wish I could go back in a second. I had so much fun in my 20's. I went to so many parties and had so much fun at all the places in LA. It wasn't like it is now, you have to be some star to get into the hot club. All you had to be back then was a girl who was pretty like I was. I loved running into Axel, and oh my god, all the drama he produced including the greatest album of all time.

The 80's were a great decade to be young and growing up in. My favorite hair band was Y & T (and the album cover art), but one of the best bands had to be Oingo Boingo.

BONJOVI is the best. Going to see them soon at Madison Square Garden. Loved them when I was 12 and they are still my favorite band. The 80s bands were the best bands and music ever. Music will never be the same.

While Aerosmith was still big in the 80's they are hardly an "80's band" ... they started in the late 70's and certainly were not the typical "hair band". It takes more than big hair to be a hair band.... To me, a hair band was a band that rose in the 80's, had that particular fuzzy big rocker hair and played that very 80's style "we gonna rock you" kind of music. Aerosmith was more cool than that.... at least in the early days.
