Every year I go to western Pennsylvania for the holidays. Don't get me wrong, I love to see my family and always have a good time. But if you have ever been to the mountains of Pennsylvania in November and December, it is pretty cold. Sometimes I really envy those people who take a family vacation instead. Think about it, you get to see your family and you get to tan in the middle of winter. Now that is my kind of holiday. I don't know if I can convince my family to take our holiday festivities elsewhere. It just seems like it is a little untraditional for them. Since it is already mid-November it is probably not going to happen this year ... but maybe I can bring up a trip for next year and get the idea in their heads.
But where do people go for winter vacations? I am definitely thinking somewhere warm! I decided to see what kinds of vacations people were looking for on AOL Search so that I could have some ideas for the fam. I am not really into all-inclusive vacations and my family probably would not want to spend Christmas in Las Vegas. But I would love to go to Mexico or maybe we could take a cruise vacation?

Vegas in winter sounds warm... I'm in NH, here it gets below zero and the highs are maybe in the upper thirties.

Hawaii is our # 1. No question about that.
# 2 is a tie between Las Vegas and the California Coast. My wife and I keep a travel blog of our adventures at http://www.thoughts.com/Mike66 so our friends and family can keep track of where we are off to next.

I live in Phoenix in the winter; it is pretty chilly in December. But we are sure glad to have you snow-birds visit!

I have to say there are 3 places to choose from in the winter.
First...based on shortest flight would be for me Palm Springs, CA. We were there in the middle of Feburary when back in NYC they were having a blizzard,we got to sit at the pool in 80 degree weather at night none the less!!!
Second..Maui, HI It was a short stay, only 3 nights, but just the climate, fresh air, warm water, and amazing sights..I think I could move there and be very happy and relaxed!
Third...truly my favorite, but given it takes almost a full day to fly there is Melbourne, Austraila...
Yeps, that land down under...skip Sydney, it's too crowded and go to Melbourne and see the outer suburbs!
We stayed in a cabin near the ocean and woke up to wild cockatoos on the balcony. The birds you see flying around everywhere are amazing, the colors and variety alone will awe you. Not like the pidgeons you see in the NYC area.
The people most of all make this trip worth it all. They are georgeous, sweet, and most of all very friendly and helpful. They are laid back and not aggressive even while driving. The nightlife and places to see are going to keep you up late and sleeping in a few mornings.
Most of all try some of the local foods...Dim Sum was really good if you get the chance, just remember to ask the locals where to get the best food. Cost of food and other stuff isn't much different than here, even cheaper at times depending on exchange rates.
Just know if ya go...your going to want to go back!!
Plus, go pet a koala at the Featherdale zoo, outside of Sydney..but if ya gotta go to Sydney...there's the zoo to hit...not as crowded as the main zoo...plus you get a closer interaction with the native wildlife. I have the most amazing picts of me with the wildlife..nobody believes that the animals were real in the picts.

I still love Daytona Beach, Florida as a great vacation. I'm even going to start planning, in January, to get down there again in May or June. I love it there. So beautiful

We live on Sanibel Island, Florida, and we are in the best place in the world for the entire winter! We don't even think about travel. The temps are between 75 and 85 degrees; the beaches are one of the best anywhere, not to mention the shelling. The laid back tropical atmosphere of Sanibel Island conbined with the natural wildlife mentality here are unbeatable. Come join us!

Oh, I will definitely be back to Florida and yes, I've been to the Sanibel Island. Very gorgeous, indeed. I can't wait to go again.

I moved from Portland, Oregon to a cute little condo in Santa Monica a few years ago. the weather is nice here just about all the time. Right now as I write this, the sky is blue, doves are flitting around in the big pepper tree outside my studio window. I enjoy seeing interesting eclectic architecture and colorful flowers in bloom when I walk the few blocks to Main Street where there are great coffee places like the Urth Caffe and lots of other restaurants, boutiques, salons. After walking on few more blocks, I reach a beautiful stretch of sandy beach with skate and bike rentals, beautiful hotels for travelers, the pier. Traveling to see far away loved ones at NON-holiday times is what works for us.

I just visited Grand Cayman for the third time, all trips being in November. The weather is beautiful all year, but especially perfect this time of year, not too hot or humid. I'm heading to Grand Turk in Turks and Caicos next week for another quick dive trip, so for me it is all about the beaches. I used to snow ski, until an accident tore my ACL and MCL, so no need for the cold, snow, sleet for me...just send me to the beautiful aqua blue waters!
