Every year I go to western Pennsylvania for the holidays. Don't get me wrong, I love to see my family and always have a good time. But if you have ever been to the mountains of Pennsylvania in November and December, it is pretty cold. Sometimes I really envy those people who take a family vacation instead. Think about it, you get to see your family and you get to tan in the middle of winter. Now that is my kind of holiday. I don't know if I can convince my family to take our holiday festivities elsewhere. It just seems like it is a little untraditional for them. Since it is already mid-November it is probably not going to happen this year ... but maybe I can bring up a trip for next year and get the idea in their heads.
But where do people go for winter vacations? I am definitely thinking somewhere warm! I decided to see what kinds of vacations people were looking for on AOL Search so that I could have some ideas for the fam. I am not really into all-inclusive vacations and my family probably would not want to spend Christmas in Las Vegas. But I would love to go to Mexico or maybe we could take a cruise vacation?

Allie,
Of the above listed Winter vacation locations, which ones do you think that the young travelers would like. In addition, which do you feel that the middle age and above would like?

HELLO...I THINK PHILIPPINES WOULD ALSO BE A GREAT COUNTRY TO VISIT IN THE WINTER...EVERYTHING THERE IS INEXPENSIVE, AND YOU WILL BE PAMPERED. THE WEATHER IN THE PHILIPPINES IS USUALLY EXTREMELY WARM, BUT NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER ARE THE BEST MONTHS TO GO BECAUSE IT'S A LIL' COOLER AND CHRISTMAS IS GREAT THERE!!!

I do agree with Michelle, Philippines is one of best spot to visit during winter. My whole family spent christmas vacation in Boracay Island (55 minutes flight from Manila) and my kids enjoyed the area, powdered white sand beach and deep blue waters great for snorkling. Enjoy your vacation with inexpensive accomodation and great fresh seafoods (cook the way you like it) and of course great ice cold San Miguel beer.......Happy Holiday!!!

Why should you dream about getting away from the frigid north for a week or so when you can simply move to affordable Palm Bay FL. Watch the shuttle launch from your back yard and the beach is 7 miles away as the crow flys. check out http://www.uglyrealtor.com to see fow affordable Florida living really is. We are below the tropical line which is much better than living in the south such as Texas, Alabama etc... Yea I know, shameless plug. Sorry if I wasted your time. I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving!!!

I'm surprised to see Vegas on a list for winter vacations. It's freezing here in the winter. Highs in the fifties, lows down to upper twenties. The desert is cold in the winter.

I loved Yugoslavia. it may sound weird, but i just fell in love with that country. I mean you might think that the kids begging for change and the adults urinating in public would be disturbing, but all you had to do was swat them with a rolled up wet newspaper and they would stop. Most of the time i was pampered and everything was really cheap so throwing away food in front of the really poor was the most fun i had in years. The weather was sort of cold but since everything was dirt cheap i just burned alot of their valuables to keep me warm.

the only place to vacation - and it's alot less expensive than you might think - is hilton head island,s.c., baby... coldest 30 day period is mid-january to mid-february, and the AVERAGE high is 60 and the low averages 40...perfect

I live in Palm Desert, CA and to me this is the perfect place to be in the winter. Never goes below 70 degrees, and most days stay around 80, PLUS theres tons to do here... Just my opinion.. might save a little money rather than leaving the country. :)

For me and my family, there is no place better in the winter than Phoenix, Arizona. So much to do and so close to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and even a short trip to Las Vegas. Phoenix is a beautiful city especially in the winter when it is 75 degrees and sunny.

Hello,
Our best family Christmas holiday was in St. Johann, Austria, for a week. The skiing is fantastic! It is right out of a fairy tale. It snowed every night, while the sun shined every day. We also went on a night sledding tour. They take you up the ski lift to the top of the mountain, you have a warm drink, and then you sled down to the bottom. You only need one run, it takes about 30-45 mins., but what a hoot! Fantastic trip of a life time!!!

puerto rico is definitely a world wide favorite. though it may be cold in the U.S. druing winter, its always a warm party in puerto rico. you can go to the sunny beaches to kick back and enjoy the beautiful sun or you can hike mountains in the country like el yunke and enjoy being surrounded by nature. night life is always enjoyable as well. the people there are warm and inviting, always looking to have a good time. he food is excellent as well. if you're not wanting this, then i dont know whats wrong with you. haha.

James wrote about Yugoslavia but his experience was during the last century. It dissolved by 1992. Countries, such as Croatia, are now a delight to visit and are no longer poor. To buy an apartment in the capital city, plan on spending arount $300,000 US or more I am told/

Cruise vacations are a ton of fun! In the past we have flown to Mexioc or soem other island location, but the boat is the best ride. You are pampered, you never have to drive somwhere and get on a list for dinner, you unpack once, the room is kept spotless and the staff is really concrened about your experience. There is something to do all day and all night, and talk about the ocean view..Wow!

Anywhere so. you go w/warmth& beaches, all ages will enjoy. Disney was fun for us,our pre-teens & teens. Cancun great for partygoers, but also lots for families to do. We love Cabo, alittle quieter and beautiful. Honolulu, nice and expensive. Jamaica, beautiful beaches choose an all-inclusive. All-inclusive doesn't always mean costly, we've paid 50pp/pd in Mex., Jamaica and this winter Dom. Rep.
