It has been nearly eleven years since Mechele Linehan allegedly plotted to kill her fiancé, Kent Leppink. The theory is that Mechele convinced her lover at the time, John Carlin, to murder Leppink. She then collected the $1 million life insurance policy and moved to Washington State. Carlin has already been convicted of the murder ... but now the question of Mechele's involvement remains.
This case was broken open again last year when new evidence was found that could link Mechele to Leppink's murder. The trial has been going on in Alaska this week. Yesterday emails that link Michele and Carlin were introduced to the jury. These emails are supposed to confirm the fact that the two were plotting to kill Leppink.
Mechele has since remarried an Olympia, Washington doctor. Yesterday her husband testified on her behalf. In his statement yesterday he said, " ... it kills me that in their hearts that they think Mechele had anything to do with that and I know from the bottom of my heart and soul that she did not." Now that is one dedicated husband!
The creepiest thing about this whole murder? People are saying that Mechele planned the whole thing around a movie. Apparently Michele was obsessed with 'The Last Seduction.' In the film, a femme fatale has her lover murder her husband and when he is convicted, she gets away with murder. Hm, sounds familiar.
