acity, but people don't really talk about it that much. When I was younger and first had to learn to shave my legs, I remember it being like a big secret. Honestly, I do not think it is a big deal ... but everything is a big deal when you are 12, right? I feel like now there are so many more hair removal options out there. Looking at what people searched for on AOL Search, I am right. Laser hair removal and waxing are popular methods. I did not even know about Vaniqa. And a depilatory? Apparently it is a fancy word for something like Nair.
Do you know any hair removal secrets that did not make the list? Try searching for hair removal on AOL Search or check out AOL Body.

Every part of the body is discussed here with one exception. Starting about 10 years ago hair remonval of the area surrounding the vagina became popular. It is so rare to see what type of hair removal in the ever so private area of our bodies. Yet once one joins the crowd it probably takes longer to shave than any other area!
Can't a girl get some advice about pubic hair removal please?
Thanks, Carol

#6 I am an esthetician, you certainly do not know what you are talking about when it comes to hair removal. Waxing and tweezing actually weaken the hair follicle and the hair grows in softer, thinner and weaker, you NEVER get more, NEVER. You are born with a certain amount of hair follicles all over your body and you cannot create more. It eventually stops growing, the more you wax and tweeze. Don't you notice ladies in their 50's that have no eyebrows because they tweezed them to thin in the 60's. COMMON SENSE tells you that if you rip something out enough times that it will eventually stop growing. My body will tell you so, I don't need permanent hair removal because after twenty years of waxing my face and bikini I hardly have any hair, and it used to be a bush and now I am a sexy Brazilian. So please before stating soemthing you think is fact, please know your facts.

Hair does not grow in darker or more coarse when shaved, waxed or cut. This is a myth. When the hair comes from the papilla (or mother of the hair) it is essentially shaped like a naturally tapered piece of string (think of a tiny carrot when just pulled from the ground), when cut or shaved we make that end blunt and the cross section is then more visible than if we had left it alone in the first place. (like cutting the carrots tip off.) When a hair is pulled from the papilla over a period of many times it destroys that particular follicle and no longer grows. Lasering and Eletrolysis destroys that "mother of the hair". Unfortunately some of us have very strong, deep hair follicles which prove to be far more difficult to deal with. If you seem to have a over growth of hair on your body you may wish to seek out a dermatologist as you may have a rare condition known as Hirsuties and may need hormonal treatments. A more common household name in sugaring would be like Nads. If you are getting red bumps there are several things that could be happening. You could be reacting to the lotions, yes or the wax itself. The bumps could also be a reaction from where the hair was removed and the skin around is swelling. You may need to seek out a place that uses wax for sensitive skin or pay attention to the way the wax artist is preparing your skin for the trauma it is about to receive. There should always be a pretreatment to soften the hairs, then a brush on of any kind of powder (to buffer the skin from the wax.. why take the skin when you just need the hair?!) if they do not do this it is your place and right as a paying customer to ask why they are not! No waxing twice. Wax once and do not insist them to wax those tiny hairs they missed, tweeze them or you will be harming your skin. We can't afford to loose layer after layer or we will essentially be giving ourselves a manmade sunburn and create scarring. As for waxing, shaving or using a removal cream and it actually stimlating the hair growth... ANYTHING can stimulate hair growth. Lasering creates heat, heat makes the blood rise to the surface of the skin which holds the hair follicle and blood is what nourishes it. Girls who get the razor burns or rashes on their legs, try using Farouk's Biosilk. Mix some in your shaving cream, use it instead of shaving cream or just simply put it on afterward. Silky smooth and feels great! What you need to ask yourself is "The outcome I am looking for, will it outweigh the possibilities in the future? Do you want smooth skin now or maybe a few hairs less later?" As a Instructor of Cosmetology I assure you there are no wrong ways or right ways going about hair removal, whatever you chose is the best for you, but may not be for me. So grab your razors, sugars, epilators, depilatories, wax (..jams..jellies ...kidding) and get to work on that bikini line but remember who is truly causing all this pain.. MEN! (Haha! Sorry guys!)

Finest grade sand paper. This is the black sand paper from the hardware store. Yup I tried it and it worked.
I went to a spa and they used it on my legs and they were silky smooth so I tried it at home-same results.
Take a small section of paper and on dry legs, in a circular motion rub the area lightly. Ta DA all the hair in this area will be removed and on the black sand paper. Same results as waxing. After legs are dusty from the paper wash and apply your favorite lotion.
Amazing cheap no razor bumps, but time consuming.

I use Vaniqua and wouldn't leave town without it! You have to use it EVERY night after washing your face. (Make sure your face is dry and use a VERY small amount, otherwise you're wasting it. My tube lasts at least 6 months). After a couple weeks I went to using it every other night and some times I'll forget it for 3 or 4 nights and I only get a few hairs. I used to tweeze daily and my chin was so raw from the 30 plus hairs that would grow. Thanks to Vaniqua (which is prescription and not cheap) I am "hair free".
