I have always been a fan of Michelle Pfeiffer. I cannot say that it is from her best works, but I loved 'Dangerous Minds' and 'Grease 2.' We also cannot forget her stellar work in 'One Fine Day.' It looks like Hollywood finally realized what an asset they had in Pfeiffer because this week she was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her co-stars Paul Rudd and Jeff Bridges were in attendance when she received the honor.
Honestly, I am kind of surprised that it took Pfeiffer this long to get her own star. She has been in the A-list crowd for years and has acted in some classic movies (i.e. 'Scarface' and 'The Fabulous Baker Boys.) I mean if I were Pfeiffer, I would just be insulted that Michael Bolton and Kirstie Alley both were recognized before myself -- but maybe that is just me?

I am so glad to see this. As much as Hollyweird is getting too much press these days with all the stupidity they generate, it's nice to see a star who is still a class act getting her well earned respect. I have always loved Michelle, and think she is a great actress!! Kudos Michelle!

Geez, actually looked thinking it was some vain, selfish actress who did not deserve it. WRONG. She is gorgeous, talented and a good Wife and Mother not into plastic surgery and the latest way to look 1/2 your age (even dresses appropriately). In my book there are only four actresses deserving of a buck from my pocketbook. Holly Hunter, Jessica Lange, Michelle and of course Meryl Streep. Just my opinion. Drew Barrymore is the closest 5th.

Celebrities apply to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for a star, who votes each year on the list of stars to be awarded that year. It's up to the celebrity to pay the $15,000 to have it installed and schedule the unveiling. Funny how the ceremonies just happen to be around movie openings, huh.

I think it is great that she is getting one; however, all this does is give the hookers another address to pick up their "clients" on the sidewalk. Yeah it is great to be made a perminant part of hollyweird in this fashion, to be placed with the greats of years gone by. But in today's society people don't look at it like that, they just see it as something else to add to the fame of an already famous person. Instead of paying ten grand or more for a piece of a sidewalk and paying for the up keep that comes afterwards, why not put that money to good use helping rebuild New Orleans, or helping the homeless that wander the streets all over this country or helping the sick and starving children in THIS country?

AOL needs to get their facts straight. The stars are purchased by the stars or their publicist. Yes, they have to qualify for the star, but anyone in TV, movies, music that have made a name for themselves can "purchase" one with a signed petition. It's not really as big a deal as everyone thinks it is.

They need to remove some of those stars... the Olsen Twins and Britney Spears just to name a few.

I don't care what she is in,that woman,
is flat out georgeous. most of the younger
so called stars can't hold a candle to her.!!

Too funny! I understand that it is the person that is "honored" by the star that buys it. She should have havae invested the money years ago....LOL

Michelle Pfiffer has always been one of my favorites. As a matter of fact if I know she is in a movie I know it will be a good one. I think her acting range is terrific and varied. I'm glad she finally has her star. She has always been one in my book.

So then, we can deduce that since Erik Estrada got a star before Michelle Pfeiffer, his fans were more successful petitioners AND he has the free money to make a hefty contribution. I mean, nothing against him (I hear he's a great guy!) but I do think actors should receive the stars based on merit. The activity of one's fan base is not always a measure of one's contribution or ability. Just look at those geeks who go all-out for Star Trek & Battlestar Galactica. (No offense to the geeks - you know I love you.) The point is, Michelle Pfeiffer is not the kind of person that would draw a crazed, obsessive fan base. If the award is, as some have stated, partially based on the petition of her fans, it's not as likely to happen quickly for an actor whose fan base is more mature. I think that's really unfair. Of course, I doubt that very many of us truly know the process by which a person gains a Hollywood star, so all of this is speculation, but that's my two cents based on others' comments.

The ceremony usually is planned when there is a big movie coming out with the star receiving it. You try being a busy star and find time just to come out and stand in the sun to receive a piece of side walk LOL. In order to receive it the star MUST show up if they don't show up they have to re-schedule. So when they are in LA promoting the movie(s) thats when the make arrangments to get their star. I love those ceremonies I go to them all the time. I went to Michelle's, Halle Berry, George Lopez, Nicole Kidman, Destiny's Child, Dick Wolf, Erik Estrada (LOL), Chris Farley: Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Tom Arnold showed up for this unveiling. They are so much fun!!!!!

How in the heck did she JUST get a star? And how in the heck did Ryan Seacrest get a star long before many actors and actresses that have been around for a long time?

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR OWN STAR MICHELLE....YOU DESERVE IT!!!! :)

Not only is true talent, but one of the most sexy, beautiful women in movies. Also, she is not a typical Hollywood Ho, and does not sleep with everyone and than think about marriage ... She is happily married and a true STAR of Hollywood. Not like those make believe Hollywood Fairlyland actors. Yes ..like John Travolta, and tiny Tom Cruise. I think those two are married to one another. Two of the biggest Queens in Fairyland, CA
