Searches are up on AOL Search lately for diet pills. Being as it is summer, that is no surprise, but there is also a new pill on the market making a ton of buzz. The Alli diet pill was released recently and they have been selling out all over the nation. The pill is an over-the-counter version of pill, Xenical, which is an FDA-approved prescription drug.
The premise of the pill is that it is a "fat blocker." I don't know what a fat blocker is, but it kind of sounds like a made-up buzz word to me. This "fat blocker" prevents fat from being absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract. The pill also comes along with instructions for a change in diet and exercise when you purchase it.
Now, I don't know if it is just me, but it seems that a change in diet and exercise alone would make you slim down ... so why do you even need the pill? Also, are people really going to take advice on their diet from GlaxoSmithKline? My last question is if this fat blocker is really blocking absorption, then where is the fat going?
Have you tried the Alli pill? Let me know what you think about it.

People are fat because they eat too much and don't get any excercise. I am 63 years old, am 5'10" and weigh 160lbs. Have never been fat and when I was younger there weren't any fat people. I am disgusted when I see fat people stuffing their faces. And at fast food joints they don't even get out of their cars to get food. They order from their cars. I have no sympathy. No pill will help them. Push some food away from your face and go outside and take a walk.

Hello. I'm not acctually using any diet pills at the moment. but I have always been curious as to how it all works and if there is any pill that just WORKS.. with no nasty side effects or anything like that. I'm just 4o pounds overweight and the exercise that I do everyday and diet that I'm on won't work for me.. I'm just curious so if anybody has an ideas or comments reply to this comment.. and to those of you with anal seepeage.. I'm sorry about your luck.. maybe alli isn't the right pill.

I have been using Alli for 3 days now and don't have any bad side effects. I am sticking to the amount of fat grams that the plan says to stick to. Over the weekend, I have already lost 4 pounds. I am not obese - but, since turning 40, I seem to have gained weight around my middle that exercise wouldn't even help. With the Alli, I am already seeing changes and am fitting back into some clothes!

I used zenical the prescription version of alli. after the stuff gets into your system [it takes a while] you better watch out. The anal seepege was gross it felt like I was sitting in a pile of dog do..the odor was so offensive not to mention it looked like pizza grease and it would not come out of the clothes even after 6 washings in the machine. It can literally ruin your clothes. Better stay close to home when you take this ... after a week it kicks in...that i would not recomend this to anyone as a alternative to diet and excercise that is the cold hard truth.

I keep seeing people write about how Alli blocks ALL of the fat intake, good and bad. Alli only blocks approx. 30%!!!!!! of the fats, good or bad. That is not blocking everything and your body can still get an ample amount of the fats it needs for things like healthy hair and such. I am not taking it, I am still undecided but I have read quite a bit about it and people should do their research before making a quick judgement about it. Sometimes people need a little extra help to shed the lbs. I dont think anyone should make judgements about their decisions. Physicians have already recommended this product and they would know better than any one. Everyone reacts differently to alien substances in the body. Its possible that those people might need to intake a bit less fat according to age, current weight, height, or a combonation of those things. My gosh.... Follow the directions to a T and you should be fine.

Come on people cut the fat and lose the weight. If you buy this new magic pill the only thing you lose is money. It's to good to be true just like every other pill out there. If you buy these kinds of pills they will make them. You do lose just not weight and these big guys make money off of people just looking for the magic pill. There is only one way watch your food intake. Nice and slow. NO PILLS!!!!! DON'T BE A FOOL!!!!

I don't think that taking diet pills is necessary. If you want to lose weight, eat low fat foods, do extra workouts, and stop with the snacks! Aspecially in the afternoon and night time. (Try sugar free chewing gum.) A lot of people eat because they are bored not because they are hungry. Just keep yourself busy. (try doing something active) Working out also helps you relief stress. These pills have unpleasant side affects that no one would want to experience. It's unhealthy and there is other ways.

I'm a store manager for a pharmacy and when the Alli came in a couple of days ago, the pharmacist and I looked over all the package inserts, warnings, instructions etc. The result? We've pulled it from our shelves and will only sell it to our patients and consumers after we have warned them of the possibly dangerous side effects and recommend that this product only be taken by those with serious obesity and under a doctor's care. This is not a safe drug to be taken by people with eating disorders, vitamin defficiancies, intestinal or stomach disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, or other pre-existing conditions. Please talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking this or any other over the counter weight loss pill and definately do not take this if you are under the age of eighteen, or give this to anyone under the age of eighteen unless first approved by a pediatrician.
