Searches are up on AOL Search lately for diet pills. Being as it is summer, that is no surprise, but there is also a new pill on the market making a ton of buzz. The Alli diet pill was released recently and they have been selling out all over the nation. The pill is an over-the-counter version of pill, Xenical, which is an FDA-approved prescription drug.
The premise of the pill is that it is a "fat blocker." I don't know what a fat blocker is, but it kind of sounds like a made-up buzz word to me. This "fat blocker" prevents fat from being absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract. The pill also comes along with instructions for a change in diet and exercise when you purchase it.
Now, I don't know if it is just me, but it seems that a change in diet and exercise alone would make you slim down ... so why do you even need the pill? Also, are people really going to take advice on their diet from GlaxoSmithKline? My last question is if this fat blocker is really blocking absorption, then where is the fat going?
Have you tried the Alli pill? Let me know what you think about it.

I have used the prescription Xenical & it has worked well, along with a sensible diet & exersize program. Alli is a good choice if your health plan does not pay for it(xenical), just a lower dose. As with anything there are no diet miracles, just a little jump start in the right direction. Side effects are minimal if you change your way of eating. If you eat too much of anything intestinal discomfort cam always be a side effect..

Ok here is the thing. Yes diet and exercise are the most important, but there are some people (like me who need a little help) I have an underactive thyroid, which means my metabolism is slow, I workout every day and my diet consists of fruit and veggies, very little meat, and basically no salt. I weigh 200lbs. Thanks to products like xenical and alli, people like me can lose weight.

I used Xenical for almost a year, and it worked beautifully. Although, you must reduce your fat intake to really see benefits. If you maintain the same high fat diet, you will experience the inconvenient side-effect of leakage, and not being able to control your bowels. A hint is if you are just starting this diet and are unsure how your body is going to react, wear a panty liner or a pad towards the back of your underwear, so it won't ruin your clothing.

I tried xenical and it worked great. I watched what I eat and never had any 'accidents'. It was very rewarding to see the results when you went to the bathroom! It is proof that these pills were really doing something good verses all the other diet pills which just as well be placebos. I had to order mine online and it was sort of expensive so I'm glad they are finally available OTC.

I can't see what the big deal is about "medications" that reduce the intake of fat in your diet -- it isn't fat that makes you fat -- its carbohydrates! One can't eat an unlimited amount of fat and not gain weight, granted -- but the carbs are the culprit! It seems to me that if you limited the amount of carbs you each each day (not the Atkins diet, per se), you would see a weight loss. I've lost 15 pounds that way, and I still eat bread and peanut butter every day.

As they always say: "individual results will vary".
$60 a month= LOT$ of profit for GSK. I'm nearly 50 & may need to lose 5 lbs. but I WON'T use ALLI as that oily discharge/bathroom biz is a drag! A bunch of women think it's a quick fix, figuring they can eat empty carbs/french fries & STILL lose. Does'nt work that way. I take vitamins & am on a low carb/sugar free lifestyle. Have been over 5 yrs. It's a LIFESTYLE! Having 2 forms of Lupus, I went thru MY share of Chemo/Meds & side effects. EAT HEALTHY/DRINK WATER/MOVE AROUND AS BEST YOU CAN. It's called COMMON SENSE! There is NO Miracle. I was Anorexic in '77(b4 it HAD a name) & messed up my immune system permanently. WORD TO THE WISE & I wish U well. If U ALLI, have your CC ready every month!

I've used Xenical in the past which is a stronger dose of Alli and it works great but here's some tips:
1)Take it 30 mins before meals
2)Definitely Cut Down Your Fat Intake
3)DO NOT TRY TO FART - It's not a fart...trust me.
4)Keep fresh underpants around for when you try to fart and the surprise side effect (orangy looking grease) comes out instead.
5)Again - CUT DOWN FAT INTAKE TO SOMEWHAT RESOLVE TIP #4

Diet pills are DANGEROUS, they force your body to make changes that are NOT normal, the only way that you WILL lose weight is by STOP eating fast food, pastries and drinking sodas on a daily basis, have your junk food only once a week, eat more veggies, grains and fruit and WALK a mile a day. Our bodies are perfect machines and if you take care of it you will look fantastic! do not spend your money on diet pills or gyms. Do it the natural way (as described above), it is a 100% FREE and with a LIFETIME warranty! Save your money for a well deserved vacation.

You people are so dooped into believing that any diet pill will work. It is a lie and the drug compnaies are making billions out of you people. Wake up..see around you, how many obese people are there in America? America has the fattest population of people around in the world. The diet industry are not helping anyone, but just fooling everybody. Like the drug companies, they too are making billion of dollars trying to fool people into believing that you will loose weight, in fact the moment you take these drugs or any kind of drugs, you will start putting the weight on...Don't be fooled any longer. One important suggestion..but the book called " The permanent weight lost cure " They" don't want you to know by : Kevin Trudeau or go to his web site and order this book www.natural cures.com. You will loose weight and never put in on forever... this is the real cure " They" the drug companies doesn't want you to know. As they will want to make more billion of profits making you believe that drugs works. ITS THE OPPOSIT!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!! Hope you will see the light...get the book, it will change your life forever!!! Hope this helps everyone concerns in losing weight.

I have used the RX xenical. It words great, if you reduce the fat contint of your diet! I used it as a remineder to stop eating that kind of food. I lost 30lbs. The down side I stopped using it and in 2 years gained it back. This pill ALLI only will work if you take 2 pill it will give you the same mg's at the RX version. I am currently taking it and it is working well for me.
Thanks
Mark

I have had a rapid weight loss on Kimkins http://www.kimkins.com/329.html
about a lb a day with no hunger or cravings - it's a lower fat version of Atkins.

Total horses**t! There hasn't been a real "diet" pill since the FDA banned black mollies. Remember those little beauties? If not, axe yo momma what it was like in college to stay up for three days at a time "studying!" Yeah, right!!!

I'm not so thrilled with alli. It doesn't help that the place I currently work at sells it, but I HATE that you have to take all of your fat soluable vitamins and healthy fats, i.e. fish oils, vitamins A, E, D, and K, and even the weightloss product CLA at night! Otherwise alli will prevent your body from absorbing all of those wonderful things! What's worse is you can't even take a combination digestive enzyme, because alli blocks lipases!
Then there are the side effects, which we are supposed to refer to as "treatment effects". Like that is supposed to make them seem any better. The gas with the oily discharge, frequent bathroom trips, loose stools. What fun.
In the end you just have to decide what works best for you, but I definitly don't have a desire to sell, let alone take this product.

Alli only blocks 152 calories a day. Big deal. When you flatulate oily liquid will soil your underclothing and clothes. That's where the fat goes out your anus and on your clothes. Sickening, just quit stuffing your face with garbage, eat smal healthy meals 6 times a day and work out in the morning to get your metabolism going. Don't be a lazy, fat, good for nothing whiner and go make it happen!

Okay ... so this Alli stuff is really nothing more than Olestra in pill-form. Ever eat too many of those chips which are made with Olean? Not only do you crap your brains out, but you get all of this orange greasy stuff running out of your butt. There is no magic bullet. Eat less, excercise more and you will lose weight. There's the solution, plain and simple.
By michele on Jun 18th 2007 at 3:10PM
My sister has been using it for 3 months. She has lost 60 lbs. Yes you get runny greasy movements when you eat greasy food but she says it helps her stay away from the greasy stuff. Its an extra motivator. I'm trying to find it, it seems to be flying off the shelves. My research shows it is totally proven that all it does is block 30% of your fatty intake. It's not taken anything away from your body that it needs. The movements are very gentle so not to worry about problems there, unless you eat greasy food. It is the first ever FDA approved over the counter diet pill ever, that has to mean something.

Like several of the others, I have been on Xenical for about a year. I dropped close to 100 lbs on that pill. My doctor told me how many grams of fat I was safely aloud to consume per day. Anything more than that your digestive system will get rid of by way of your bowels...hence the term "fat blocker". I've never had a problem as long as I stayed within that daily fat gram amount. Occasionally, I did go beyond it. YES>>>it is very embarrasing and uncomfortable. Bottom line? Eat what your suppose to and you won't have a problem. I'm going to try allie.

I have been on South Beach Diet for 3 months and lost 28 lbs. I started taking Alli last Thursday so Im on day 5 now. Not a single side affect so far, but then I eat a low fat/cal diet already. And I have always gone to the gym, rode mountain bikes, played racquetball and still had a weight problem not all of us can do it just by working out. And if Alli helps keep me on the straight and narrow then it's worth every penny to me! And to the people who had accidents you can't say they didn't warn you...
