Ever since I was a little girl I used to watch 'The Young and the Restless' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful' with my mom. She would tape them (back when people actually had VCRs) and every night we would sit down and watch. I continued watching religiously throughout college and just recently stopped. But if anyone can appreciate love for a favorite soap opera, it's me.
Since the Daytime Emmy Awards were this week, I wanted to see which soap operas people are searching on AOL Search. 'Passions' is the leader on the list followed by 'General Hospital' and 'Days of Our Lives.'
Even though none of my favorite soaps made it into the top three, I am still a loyal fan of the 'Young' and the 'Bold.'

I was very disappointed that General Hosp and/or One Life to Livc did not receive anything, the only one rick and genie frances. She is hardly ever on, and the same goes for Luke. More should have gotten in.

I don't understand the young actor cat. The ones nominated are not very young and there are some young ones that have strong showings.Starr-Cole-Matthew to name a few on OLTL and more on GH.

All you illiterates should spend more time learning to read, write, and spell the English language instead of gaping at soap operas.

I justwanted to say that 20 years ago I was in Freeport in the Bahamas. My friend and I were talking to a truck driver who was on vacation, he looked at his watch and said in a hurry that he had to leave that General Hospital was on and he never missed it. People from all walks of life love this program.

I've been a fan for 37 years & I'm only 42. I watched during school vacation & recorded by VCR. There are alot of good actors on AMC (like JR, Kendall) & OLTL (Todd Manning) who should have been nominated. One of the most gripping moments was Todd being executed. Also, Jess/Tess was great. GH's Carly was excellent this year. I don't think Days was hardly mentioned and they were all great.

My favorite soap is "Days" I don't know how many vcr's I went through back in the 80's. But my all time fav is "Dark Shadows"!! I wish it would be resurected again. You just can't keep a good vampire down!

My mom and Grandma as watched Days of our Lives for the longest time and i as well have grown up watching it. Im a literally addicted to the show. I feel it is getting better and better with every show. I was greatly upset when Days was not really in the Daytime emmys. I think it had the qualifications for alot of the categorys. Days is underrated and people should start giving it a chance. Because once you watch days you willl never look at another soap opera the same again. Days Rocks Ma WOrld !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =] I

What happened to Days of Our Lives?? I've been watching the program for over 25 years. They have some of the best actors I've every seen....and yet, not once were they even mentioned on the daytime Emmy awards. "Days" has some of the best actors on day time television. What's going on?? Who nominates the shows and actors for the emmys?
I feel they are constantly left out of this and I want to know why.

What happened to "Days of Our Lives" at the Emmys??
I've been watching "Days" over 25 years....and this show has some of the best actors on television.....day OR night. I don't understand why they are constantly ignored by whomever nominates the shows for the emmys. Who are they anyway? It's certainly not the public.

Days of Our Lives is ALWAYS left out. I don't think it's any reflection on the acting talent of the people on the program. They have great actors. So why?

#74--I liked when SoapNet had Days on at 11:00 p.m. I cannot watch at 7:00 p.m.-my young son takes his bath then.

I started watching "Passions" when it first came on, as I was doing dialysis. I loved all the silly goofy things that happened and it always brightened my day. I remember being in the hospital after my kidney transplant and laughing so hard at all the situations Timmy and Tabitha got into, that the nurses would stop by and ask what I was watching.
I love the fact that "Passions" has a sense of humor and is not so serious all the time. It still has the drama, the romance, the pain and suffering that all the other soaps have...but there is also a good laugh most everyday. I will miss the show when it switches to Direct TV.

I agree with comment 10 bc ABC Soaps are excellent and since the emmys were on CBS they dont care. ALL MY CHILDREN AND GENERAL HOSPITAL have realistic story lines that could happen to anyone. ONE LIFE TO LIVE is also pretty good but has been focusing a lot on the teens recently.

I have also watched GL since I was a little girl. As a matter of fact watched all the soaps even Edge of Night --- remember that one? I too love all CBS soaps---especially Y&R.

I am a dyed in the wool fan of As The World Turns. I've watched it since I got married in 1956, the year the soap began. I've been thru it all with the families. I remember watching Grandpa Hughes & Nancy sitting on the living room sofa when the show was interrupted to announce the shooting & death of President John Kennedy. I wish Nancy had more air time. I miss a lot of the older cast members. Lisa needs more to do - maybe another husband? Does anyone remember the Lowells? Just remembering the 'good ol' days!' Love Y&R too, especially the evil Victor! Carry on dear friends & thank you for filling my afternoons all these years!

I love CBS soaps and especially Guiding Light. One of the most talented actors I have ever seen is Tom Pelphrey who played Reva's son. I expect big big things from him amd it doesn't hurt that he is HOT!!!!!!

Oh my, a tough ? for me to answer! I was a total ABC soap fan since I was in middle school-heck, I have been watching GH since 67 or 68-so over 30 years now. But a few years ago, for some reason I cannot even remember, I started watching Y & R, and BB. I dropped AMC altogether, and occasionally watch OLTL so I can keep the storyline going somewhat in my mind. I still watch GH, and thought it was getting much better last year with the old actors returning, even for short stints, but now it is sliding again.. so Y & R is it for me for the time being. I do agree BB is sliding also, but I think all soaps go thru that. But if my mom is watching over me from heaven, oh lord, what she must be thinking of me leaving ABC in the dust for the OTHER channel-lol.
