Ever since I was a little girl I used to watch 'The Young and the Restless' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful' with my mom. She would tape them (back when people actually had VCRs) and every night we would sit down and watch. I continued watching religiously throughout college and just recently stopped. But if anyone can appreciate love for a favorite soap opera, it's me.
Since the Daytime Emmy Awards were this week, I wanted to see which soap operas people are searching on AOL Search. 'Passions' is the leader on the list followed by 'General Hospital' and 'Days of Our Lives.'
Even though none of my favorite soaps made it into the top three, I am still a loyal fan of the 'Young' and the 'Bold.'

I afree with no.1 also. I have flipped through the networks, and even at times would watch other network soaps, but, I have always come back to CBS soaps, as my very favorites. I love them all. Y&R, B&B, As the world turns, and most definitely, Reva, she's my girl, on Guiding Light. But, it seems they always get put down at the bottom when Emmy's are handed out...???DUH??? Something is not right to me with this picture.

Some of my first memories are watching AMC while my housekeeper ironed. As I grew up I watched others on CBS but kept finding my way back to ABC. As a mother of three daughters I have frequently used the story lines, and the "drama and trama" of it all as examples to my girls. Even Erica and Brooke English have had emotional breakdowns after all the marriges and divorces they have weathered. I applaud the writers for showing the romance and the wreckage...to many of us fail to look before we leap. Good Television stopped giving us the moral of the story...or this reporters opinion, in the '60's

I was a big fan of " Another World" when it went off the air a few of the characters went "As the World Turns". I think that some of the original from "Another World" roles should be reprised on "As the World Turns" Cass still is a attorney bring back one of his old love interest or someone from his gambling days. Or even Victoria's son from Jamie. There are so many possibilities. What happen to Matt he would be good distraction for Emily, or Josie would give the local media and local celebraties a run for thier money. Try it I just love retro soaps anyway thanks to Soap Net. All soap fans love to see old soap favorites reprise an old character.

one name for ya Rick Springfield!! I love his music and couldn't wait to see him every day on GH when I was a kid. I still love him and go to his concerts whenever he is in town.!!! I wish Constantine the same success.

I have been watching Y&R since I was in high school. my mom and I would record it (VCR) and watch it together in the pm. I even named my daughter after Nikki when my daughter was born. It has been over 35 years, I think they r the very very best and getting better all the time.

Another World was the best show on TV, Daytime, Nightime or anytime until NBC had a brain freeze and canceled it. Days is starting to get good again with the return of the DiMeras. I love Genie Francis and am happy for her Emmy win, but I feel bad for the other actresses in that category because Genie was only on the show for a month and the rest were on either for the full year or close to it. She is agreat actress and hope she returns to GH full-time.

I have been watching ABC soaps since birth! My mom watched all 3--AMC, OLTL and GH. She worked and she'd tape them and we'd watch them together when she got home. It really bonded us. I suppose it wasn't always the best thing for me to be watching though. I watched all 3 through college. Then I gave up AMC and GH. I am still a huge OLTL fan and never miss it. I'm a little more careful and try to watch during naptime, but my daughter catches snippets. She'll probably grow up watching it too. My mom and I still talk about the storylines. Must be a mother/daughter thing. ABC soaps seem more realistic and better acting than other soaps in my opinion.

ABC all the way. I'm happy that Genie Francis finally the recognition she deserves.
I think Spinelli brings a breath of fresh air to GH.

I have to say that for the last 30 years I.ve been watching All My Children - One Life To Live and General Hospital. I've loved the characters all this time and to me they're all number one in my book. Thank you so much for all the great stories especially Viki and Niki & Jess and Tess of O.l.T.l,and of course Erica of A.M.C. Viki and Erica are my 2 favorites.

I absolutely LOVE General Hospital i've been watching it since I was 7 and i'm now 16. I gotta say it deffinately deserves the no. 2 spot. And i'll be watching the Daytime Emmy Awards to see if my favorite soap opera wins anything. =]

You people need better things to do with your time than watch silly soap operas and then write about them online. Please, I would never waste my precious time with such complete lack of self respect. Oh yeah, Days of our Lives got shafted last night and after watching for 27 years I can honestly say it is in it's prime. :)

I have been watching soaps for 30 yrs. and I have always watched cbs soaps until about a yr ago and now i love watching GH..I see they are saying Jason might be leaving...PLEASE KEEP him......

I love Y&R and General Hospital. I agree that Luke and Laura are not the only ones who make GH so good. The other actor's need to get a break. I hate the way Georgie and Dillon's storyline went. It just didn't make any sense. They were a wonderful couple and should have stayed together. General Hospital needs to get on with the story line of Jason and Elizabeth. Lucky does not deserve Elizabeth the way he carried on with Maxie and Sam needs to exit the show.
Both shows carry good story lines, but need some changes.

The only soaps i can tolerate are Young and the Restless, One Life to Live and Guiding Light. The Bold and the Beautiful have good looking men, but they couldn't act their way out of the door. Passions is way over the top...almost campy, but I guess thats what their fans are looking for....

My mom turned me on to Days of Our Lives, Another World and The Doctors when I was a little girl. I have to guess that I have been watching Days of Our Lives at least 38 years. When Another World went off the air a few years ago, I felt like I lost a part of my mom all over again. Days of Our Lives is the best soap and as long as my TIVO continues to work, I will be a loyal fan forever!!!!!

My favorite soap operas are All My Children and General Hopsital! They rock!! But the emmys were so unfair last night-Genie Francis should not have won for Suportting Actress, she was only on the show for a month this year.Rebecca Herbst should've won that. She should've won many years ago. And for best Younger Actress, Leven Ramblin should've won because she plays an auistic person and Does a REALLY good job at it!

I agree with #8 and #12, why was days ignored? I've watched since it began and have tried watching the other shows when a favorite character left the show and went to another, but none are the same as DOOL!

Coming from a gentleman, this might surprise quite a bit of folks, but I love drama. I am a drama man. I give credit when I see excellent drama on television. I have been watching daytime drama for over 20 years, I am 33 now. The Young and the Restless is my all-time favorite daytime drama. I am a huge fan of Eric Braeden aka Victor Newman. The stories that Y&R brings to its viewers are an edge of your seat thriller. The Cast is superb as I ever seen. Over 20 years of superior acting and brilliance directing. The Producers and the directors are just some of the businesses best. Y&R is only getting started. New twist and stories that are coming along, it is amazing. Being a viewer of Y&R for over 20 years, I feel when I watch this show, I am a resident of Genoa City and witnesses the drama unfold before my very eyes as I am seeing it for myself. It is just amazing. The Bell family have much, much to be proud as the creators. The Bold and the Beautiful is getting right up there with Y&R, it will only get better. Congratulations to CBS, to the Young and the Restless on down to the 70th Anniversary of Guiding Lights. CBS is in my heart the NUMBER ONE NETWORK for DAYTIME DRAMA!!! CBS ROCKS!!!

I flip back and forth as to my favorite soap operas. However, General Hospital's hostage storyline was one of the very best I've seen! For the first time in my life I taped every episode and was never disappointed. Carly was exceptional when she operated on Robin. The fear seemed very real. Unfortunately, now it's back to the usual, with Jax's brother Jerry basically getting away with horrific murders, and Rick being his usual obnoxious self. Y & R has gotten my attention again - I knew Nick wasn't dead...and I'm glad!
