My wireless phone contract ends in August. That means I get to shop for a new phone ... woohoo! The iPhone is super nice, but I don't think I want to spend more than $500 on a phone. I know, it's more than just a phone, but I already have a video iPod and the only times I've ever used Internet on my phone are to find movie times and phone numbers of local restaurants.I played around with my friend's BlackBerry Pearl and I like that it's sleek and compact. But I'm not sure if I could get used to the double letters on each key pad. I'm accustomed to a full-size key pad, so I've been spoiled. I guess as it gets closer to August, I'll check out cell phones in more detail. In the meantime, I'll do some window shopping and research online.
So help a girl out here, I need some ideas! When June 29 comes around, will you be one of the first people to get the iPhone? What cell phone do you have and how do you like it? Or, what's on your wish list for cell phones? This week's top searched cell phones and smart phones on AOL Search:
1) iPhone
2) BlackBerry
3) Sidekick iD
4) Sidekick 3
5) BlackBerry Pearl
6) BlackBerry Curve
7) Treo
8) Nokia N95
9) Treo 755
10) Samsung BlackJack

iPhone is a rip-off...
who the hell needs a phone that does all that? a cell phone is for (AT MOST):
1. Calling
2. Pictures/Video
3. Music
who the hell needs to go on a battery-draining web browser?
get a damn COMPUTER!
and i agree with Andrea, we're on the verge of becoming Fascist!

Only one choice for me... the Jitterbug! Big, lighted buttons, padded earpiece, loudness control and speakerphone, asks "Yes?" or 'No?" for each command, easy to see and easy to use, and best of all, it calls in and calls out; no stupid extras like pictures, text messaging, etc. Just a phone and a damn good one.

LOL funny... someone who reads the entire blog on cell phones and has the nerve to complain about people who blog about cell phones. Some of us would like to spend our hard earned money well, which includes finding out opinions from other people.
Oh wait, people like the below don't care about opinions from other people. Only their own.
Thanks for the input, guys. :-)

What???????? Blogging about a stupid cell phone choice??? What the hell is wrong with this country? Who the hell cares! The world is having a major crisis. This country is under threat of becoming Fascist and you are preoccupied with a damned phone??
You will be begging for water at the rate we are going. Shame on you for not spending your time on more important issues.

The iphone looks really nice. However, the feature I'm not so sure about is the whole touch screen. First, how do you protect the screen and use it at the same time. Second, let's be honest people, hands are dirty, therefore the screen is going to get all sticky. I'm interested in reading users reviews after it comes out.

Stay far away from a Treo 750 and ATT. They have major problems and REFUSE to address them.

I want a simple-to-use phone with large numbers, a large key pad & has loud amplification. I do NOT want a contract, a camera or music. Nor do I want to pay an arm, three legs & my entire social security check for said "convenience" item. Yes I am over 60 - and y'all will be too someday. So, manufacturers give our aging eyes, fingers and wallets a break! Young'uns out there, think about the expensive addiction you are developing. . . . will you be able to support it on social security/pension incomes?

Why do people have to insert extraneous and venomous political comments into totally unrelated subjects? to Andrea and teachin, I say: GET A LIFE

I just received the Blackberry Pearl and I am pretty satisfied with it. I agree with one of the earlier bloggers who mentioned about the tiny keys (and I have nails which nmakes typing a little more difficult) but it is cute, compact, you can access any web page that you can on a computer, you can even have your email forwarded to your phone for email kings/queens like me who keeps in touch with just about everyone mainly through email (hmmm sounds like I don't need the phone right? Well I talk to them when I;m not emailing them, LOL) The IPhone looks really cool but for those who can be patient, wait about 6 months and that hefty price tag will drop cause they will be offering deals like crazy to move the product. They know full well the average american will not pay that much for a cell phone.
As for the disgruntled cell phone bloggers, I do agree that there are major things going on int he world but if you want to comment on them (and I think they should) they should go to a blog that is SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THAT TOPIC not the cell phone blog!! Blessings to everyone!

If you like the way the Pearl looked, you should check out the Black Berry 8830 from Verizon or the Curve from AT&T.
